Visiting students receive a diploma from their home university, with a supplement to confirm that they have spent a certain part of their studies at the University of Belgrade. All the exams that visiting students have successfully passed during their mobility at the University of Belgrade are stated in the transcript of records, issued by their host-faculty of University of Belgrade at the end of their mobility.
Exchange students can spend one or two semesters at the University of Belgrade. However, certain exchange programs offer a possibility for short-term stays.

Important: Prospective exchange students should first get all the key information and requirements from their home university. Furthermore, specific requirements and procedures of different exchange types and programs must be carefully examined.
Within the Erasmus+ program, the University of Belgrade has established successful cooperation with around 300 European universities and nearly 30 universities outside the EU, and this number increases every day. In February 2019, the Republic of Serbia became a fully-fledged member of the Erasmus+ Program and is now eligible, as a so called “program country”, to participate in all parts of the program.

The International Relations Office of the University of Belgrade or any faculty/school of the University of Belgrade do not accept direct mobility applications from foreign students or staff! Nominations of the candidates for mobility are accepted by e-mail or post exclusively from the relevant International Coordinator of the foreign university (e.g. the Erasmus Office, International Relations Office, etc.).

Students and staff from universities from any Program Country (all EU countries, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey) who are interested in applying for Erasmus+ mobility at the University of Belgrade should contact the relevant International Coordinator or Erasmus Office at their home university to learn about internal procedures, nomination deadlines and available scholarships. Each university from a Program Country manages payments to its own students and staff.

Students and staff from universities from any Partner Country (other EU neighboring countries and all other countries in the world) who have been, in accordance with all relevant procedures, nominated and accepted for mobility at the University of Belgrade and granted an Erasmus+ scholarship for the duration of their stay will receive:

For all incoming students and staff
Accommodation and meals are not provided. You will need to use your subsistence allowance to cover these expenses. For information about available places in students’ dormitories or renting a flat, please see more information on the relevant pages of the menu to the left. You may also contact our Erasmus Student Network (ESN BelUPgrade) http://belupgrade.esn.rs and they can help you with getting around and finding accommodation.
Medical insurance is not provided by the Erasmus+ program. However, each participant is advised to purchase health insurance before the start of the exchange period, for the entire duration of their stay abroad. A copy of the policy must be presented to the relevant Office in charge of mobility upon the participant’s arrival to the host university.
Upon arrival you must first visit the International Relations Office of the University of Belgrade. If you are staying more than 3 months at the University of Belgrade, you will need to get a temporary stay permit, issued by the relevant authority at the Department for Foreigners at Savska 35 in Belgrade.
For incoming students and staff from Partner Countries (KA171)
Travel costs to incoming candidates from Partner Countries (KA171) will be refunded in the amounts listed above and the participants themselves will be responsible for buying the travel ticket. Please note that all costs exceeding the above amounts will be borne by the participants themselves.
Subsistence allowance is paid upon receiving the Confirmation of Arrival and signing the Grant Agreement at the International Relations Office of the University of Belgrade via an active bank account. Subsistence allowance for KA171 incoming students is paid in monthly installments, while incoming KA171 staff receives 70% of the grant upon arrival and the remaining 30% after the successfully completed mobility, following the submission of the online mobility questionnaire.
Central European Exchange Program for University Studies or CEEPUS, is an academic exchange program for students and professors from Central and Eastern Europe which started in 1993.
The program is based on an international Agreement signed by the following member states: Austria, Albania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Czech Republic, Croatia, Macedonia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Serbia.
Foreign students apply for the program online, exclusively. Before applying, they should consult their National Coordinator for CEEPUS in their home country.

Networks: Student exchange is organized within university networks. Each of the networks has a certain number of target subjects. The cooperation is based on the correspondence between institutes and faculties which are active in the same academic field. Scholarship: The scholarship includes a tuition fee waiver, accommodation, food and financial funds. The amount of funds depends on the host country.

The International Relations Office of the University of Belgrade welcomes incoming students and staff who have already been accepted for exchange.

we invite you to apply for student or staff (teaching, research and administrative) mobility at the University of Belgrade within the Circle U. University Alliance that are available at the link.
You can study at the University of Belgrade for a maximum of one academic year without participating in a specific exchange/mobility program and even if your home university does not have an official exchange agreement with UB.
As a free mover, the candidate must be eligible and fulfill the necessary prerequisites for the study program they wish to attend at the University of Belgrade for one or two semesters in total. Additionally, they must fulfill language requirements of the chosen study program.
The relevant office of the home university (International Relations Office, Global Studies Office, Mobility Office, etc.) must officially confirm that the student’s planned mobility stay at the University of Belgrade will be accepted as an official part of the student’s home degree program.
In order to attend the University of Belgrade as a free mover, a student will need to have their mobility agreement and learning agreement signed before the start of the exchange program at the University of Belgrade.
Candidates for this type of mobility will need to submit an application including the following documents:
– transcript of records
– diplomas of previous studies completed (bachelor or master)
– enrollment confirmation from the IUS
– CV
– passport scan
– photo
– Specific faculty of the University of Belgrade may ask additional documents
In addition, these documents and the application must be sent to the University of Belgrade by the central International Relations Office (or a similar service in charge of IR and mobility) of the candidate’s home university.
Administrative Fee: Please note that the University of Belgrade charges the administrative fee in the amount of 100,00 EUR in Serbian Dinars to the account of the University of Belgrade. The fee is payable upon arrival to Serbia and according to the instructions provided by the International Relations Office of the host University.
Important: Please note that this type of mobility does not lead to obtaining a degree from the University of Belgrade, only the transcript of records listing all successfully passed exams.
INTERNATIONAL JOINT SUPERVISION OF DOCTORAL THESIS - COTUTELLE
What is meant by “international joint supervision of doctoral thesis”?
A doctoral studies student of the University of Belgrade may write their doctoral thesis under joint supervision, or cotutelle, of two thesis advisors from two different universities, under the condition that they are at the same time enrolled as a doctoral student at the partner university, as well.
What does the procedure entail?
The condition under which the joint supervision can be organized, is the signing of the International Agreement on Joint Supervision of Doctoral Thesis, also known under the internationally accepted term “Cotutelle Agreement”, signed between the University of Belgrade and the partner university. This Agreement is the basic legal act which defines the terms and conditions for acquiring the scientific title of the Doctor Philosophiae (PhD) individually for each candidate enrolled in doctoral academic studies at the University of Belgrade and the partner university.
Which documents should be submitted to the University of Belgrade?
In order for the University of Belgrade to start the procedure of signing the Cotutelle Agreement, the student must first submit to the University of Belgrade all required documents for initiating the procedure of its signature.

Please note that the visiting students or staff may not apply for mobility at any Faculty/School of the University of Belgrade without the previous nomination of their home university addressed to the International Relations Office of the University of Belgrade, and without subsequent official consent of the authorities of the specific UB faculty in question to accept them as a visiting student/staff.
The International Relations Office of the University of Belgrade or any faculty/school of the University of Belgrade do not accept direct mobility applications from foreign students or staff.
Nominations of the EXCHANGE or MOBILITY candidates are forwarded to the International Relations Office of the University of Belgrade by e-mail or post by the relevant International Coordinator of the foreign university (e.g. Erasmus Office, International Relations Office, Global Mobility Office, etc.). The nomination e-mail should include the relevant institutional signature at the end of the e-mail or a nomination letter on the sending institution’s official letterhead.
The nomination letter/email and the accompanying documents must be either in the Serbian (BCS) or the English language and should include the following:

Important:
The candidate must select a specific Faculty/School of the University of Belgrade that corresponds to the candidate’s major study field at his/her home university. Students are required to select from a list of courses taught at the University of Belgrade and to include the preferred courses in the preliminary Learning Agreement, as a part of their application.

Before sending a nomination or application under any type of mobility please get familiar with the conditions, rules and procedures of a specific cooperation model and learn more about any additional documents that are required within it.
Official nomination from the candidate’s home university and subsequent application by the nominated candidate, followed by the official acceptance of the candidate to the UB faculty in question, are mandatory prerequisites for any mobility to take place.
Once nominated by the relevant International Coordinator at their home university, the nominated candidates will be put in touch with the International Office of the University of Belgrade for further administrative correspondence, as well as with the relevant Academic and/or Administrative Coordinator, respectively, at the host-faculty of the University of Belgrade.
Additionally, candidates nominated under the framework of Erasmus+ and Circle U. cooperation are requested to register and submit the required application documents within the online mobility platform of the University of Belgrade, at the following link: https://mobion.bg.ac.rs/.
Only those applications submitted by the candidates previously officially nominated under the framework of Erasmus+ and Circle U. cooperation will be accepted. Individual and direct applications sent to the University of Belgrade are not accepted.
Nominations from the relevant International Coordinator at the partner university are accepted by the deadlines determined within the specific mobility program.

Selection of students and staff to be nominated to the University of Belgrade by the relevant International Coordinator of the sending institution shall be carried out by their home university in a just, objective and transparent manner, with equal opportunities for all candidates.
Only those nominations/applications sent in a timely manner and fulfilling all requirements and procedures, will be taken into consideration by the University of Belgrade.
Final decision on accepted candidates is made by the relevant receiving faculty/school or institute of the University of Belgrade, in accordance with the procedures and the time frame determined by the mobility program or by the relevant agreement and are subject to the hosting institution’s available capacities for some programs.
For applications submitted through the MobiON mobility platform: only those applications submitted by the candidates previously officially nominated under the framework of Erasmus+ and Circle U. cooperation will be accepted for the selection process. Individual and direct applications are not accepted.
The following documents should be submitted:
1) A hard copy (original) of the letter by the Dean of the Faculty of the University of Belgrade organizing the study program the candidate is attending. This letter should be written on the Faculty’s letterhead and should contain the following information: – the Dean’s proposal to the Rector of the University of Belgrade to sign the Cotutelle Agreement with the partner university; – a statement that all expenses that have occurred at the University of Belgrade but are not defined under the terms of the Agreement shall be covered by the Faculty;
2) Confirmation of enrollment at the doctoral studies program at the University of Belgrade. The confirmation should contain the following information: – the name of the study program; – a confirmation that the student is enrolled in the current academic year of the program; – the information about the student’s status for that academic year (student who is funded from the budget of the Republic of Serbia / self-funded student); – the year when the student was enrolled in doctoral studies for the first time; – the number of ECTS acquired at the doctoral studies program prior to the issuing of this (unless they have enrolled at the first year of studies for the first time in that academic year);
3) The decision of the Academic Council of the Faculty about appointing the thesis advisor to the student; Please note: If the student does not have a thesis advisor appointed at the University of Belgrade, they should then submit a Statement of the proposed advisor in which the advisor accepts to guide the Student through the course of their research work and the work on the doctoral thesis (“Thesis Advisor’s Statement”);
4) The decision of the relevant body of the University which approves the doctoral thesis title. Please note: If the Student does not yet have the approval of the title of the doctoral thesis, it is necessary to submit a Statement of the thesis advisor which will also contain the working title of the thesis.
5) Confirmation of enrollment in doctoral studies at the partner university. The confirmation should contain the following information: – the name of the study program and its duration; – a confirmation that the students is enrolled in the current academic year of the program; – the year when the student enrolled in doctoral studies for the first time – the working title of the doctoral thesis;
6) Calendar – the schedule of the student’s attendance at partner universities, respectively, signed by both thesis advisors.
7) The name and contact details of the person responsible for communicating the working details of the Agreement on behalf of the partner institution in question (administrative contact);
8) The student’s contact details (address, contact phone number, email address).
